So, what is yours? For RTS fans
I definitely tend to be a turtle. On single-player RTS games, it works 100% of the time: I simply outlast the computer. It doesn't work so well in multiplayer, where the most effective turtle strategy is to act like a rusher but use all the units defensively. Either way, I prefer the turtle route because it's far less stressful and generally leads to more fun.For RTS fans
I probably am a turtle/economic freak. I have tried to rush, but I can never recover from the initial wounds. Being an econ. freak, I can build a huge strong army, given that the opponent doesn't succeed in rushing me. :)this probably isn't a good method to online seems how I suck online.
A turtle in nearly all games. I try to have a strong economy and lots of ranged, defensive units.
Mix.
defiantly a turtle, i just like having a strong defense and making sure they cant get into my base. plus i only really play against AI and it always works then, and if i know they cant get through it allows me to think out my strategy
I mainly expand, but force the enemy on the offensive anyhow. If possible, I favour a slow expansion with a heavy buildup of defenses.
Give Supreme Commander as an example. Say there are islands. I build up economy and power, defend it with shields, weaken the enemy shields with tech 3 artillery or experimental artillery (no use with that close range rubbish it won't reach t'other side of t'map), as many engineers working on experimental units (usually oe big bundle. Building up highest tech units and overwhelming some kind of space, a peninsula on which to dock and set up a land assault, no bombers AA Flak gets 'em off the bat. Total conquest.
Always focus on economy and defenses first. I'd like to survive and pull out the big guns. On starcraft I'm usually fast enough that I can have single upgraded Dragoons and Fast zealots by the time everyone is done rushing and recovering. -Betta
Economy %26 Defence first. Then I attack %26 destroy the opponent. So I guess I am a turtle who expands before rush out to the enemy.:D
Im a mix. Sometimes I rush, mostly just tech-up(turtle, expand, raise eco to new heights) and mainly just Steamroll.
I'm an economic freak. I compare myself to America. I can outproduce your ass.
Im definately a turtle too, love having a strong defense then taking point after point in big offensive waves. Will try to be better at rushing in the future, since it seems like the most fun way.
Economic and defender - seems to be the general mode of play
Economic and defender - seems to be the general mode of play
yeah this is me. I always get owned by rushers in the beginning but long games are always mine.
I'm a very aggressive player. Sometimes I rush, sometimes I don't, but I'm always playing on the edge. ;)
I usually try to turtle, but it depends on the game and faction.
Turtle first and Expander Second. I like to build a Force, stand my grounds and let them come to me. even if that rounds take along time. :P
I know this is an old thread, but it's a good one.I always try to research all the technologies for whichever type unit I decide to go with. For example, if I decide to go with the swordsman in a game, I research every technology that applies to making them better, like armor and weapon strength and every single upgrade specific to it or that significantly affects it (except for the monk techs from AOE II).I get to the most advanced age and THEN I start building an army.Pretty much the opposite of rushing, if you will.I then build up a gigantic army of these elite highpowered swordsman and go on a big, decisive, bloody rampage. This only really works against the computer-players on easy difficulties. Online, I get smoked, so I've had to tweak my play style to avoid getting pwned. EDIT: I put ''expander,'' by the way.

I could never recommend do ALL researches on the units you will use, researching tecnologies, I learn on mulltiplayer play, is something you should use only to fill up the gap that a certain situation might create. For ex, in Starcraft there is an upgrade of the zergs that ultimatly boast the zergilings power. Now they are the most basic units of the zergs, and this reaserch players only do when they see in a situation where they are in a econmic disvantege, the game is already is on tier 3 and the only way out and chance, is to invest on the cheapest units, do the reaserch so they dont become so obsolete against the tier 3 units. Not ever a player will reserahc this upgrade just bcause is there. Also, doing the whole one unit attack defintly dont work against a good player in onlin .Mixing is the key. And for the last, you said expander but I think this is the very own definition of a turltle, an expander actually sacrafice a lot early game and its a risky startegy, while you are on a passive start
