How was the Empire Total war Demo!

how did it go guys worth a buy ?How was the Empire Total war Demo!
Can't you download it?

Well to be honest, if you liked the other games you'll love this one. And if you've never played Total War i strongly recomend giving it a first hand try. The people who like it like it a whole lot and I fully see the point of it. It's very tactical, great loyalty in history and detail, and sadistically fun and consumes you for hours on end. 9.8/10 for the demo alone :DHow was the Empire Total war Demo!
I love it. It's great. Between this and Street Fighter 4, I'm going to be busy.
I'm on the fence about it. I was so hyped for the game, this has gotta be one of my favourite time periods for war, but having $20 elite units is pretty lame. Downloading the demo now, though, so I can see if I like the game or not. I probably will!
It's absolutely amazing. :shock:The land battle is very fun, especially seeing all your infantry firing at once. :P
its really fun
The naval battle is incredible in the demo. I can't get enough of it.
Im really really enjoying it!Alot of fun and its gorgeous! The only problem i have is the loading/exiting sometimes takes a little longer then it should.Other then that its a great demo! I cant wait for the full version! The Ocean battles are EPIC! 8)
Great demo. Can't wait for the game to come out.
As I said in another thread.OK, had a chance to play around with it a bit more. It's not ready for release. Animations are buggy, sounds are missing (although that might have been done to cut down on the size of the demo), ship combat is porked, and the interface needs tweaking.Units sometimes get stuck in place and just run without moving. Faces on the cahracter models change as you scroll in and out. It's kind of funny to watch them suddenly grow moustaches, beards or muttonchops. Sails on ships are messed up. For some reason the animations show them billowing behind the masts, rather than in front. Ship levels get screwed up and half the time, the hull of a ship appears to be underwater. Horses that are killed while crossing a stream turn invisible below the waterline. The AI isn't as blatantly r-tarded as in Rome or Medieval II, but it's still dumb as a rock. I played through the Brandywine river scenario. I pulled my entire force of Brits to the ford at the far left end of the map, quickly routed the force of Rebel riflemen in the trees, crossed the ford and set my infantry through the woods in line, kept 3 units of Hessian mercenaries as reserve, threw my artillery out to the right and threw a line of skirmishers into the woods on the guns' right as a screen. The AI brought its infantry into line to face me, well out of musket range but still in range of the artillery, but kept its guns covering the main ford. I was able to reposition my 2 guns on my left flank and just hammer away with cannister, unit by unit until they all routed. Then I just charged their guns with my 4 units of cavalry and presto, heroic victory. I say hold off for a patch and a few mods. Ignore the hyperbolic drooling on sites like Gamespy which extol the ''merciless AI''. They're either getting paid off or they're congentially stupid. It's a cakewalk.
Overall, my view is pretty positive. My concerns are more personal. I think it will be a very successful game. As for my concerns, it's really the time period. The naval battle is a nice change of pace. However, I could see myself getting board with the sea battles quickly. The land battlea are cool but this is not my favorite time period for warfare. Honestly, I think the warefare in this time period was fairly idiotic. A bunch of guys walking in a straight line getting shot to pieces, but that's just me. i do see potential and at least there's nice landscapes to create your own strategy. The game looks great. There were some tweaks to the camera that threw me a bit, but I guess I'll get used to it. The artillery seems much more effective than in MW2.

I'm more of a sword and bow guy as opposed to rifle and bayonet.

Dun bother with the ''elite units''. Really stupid move to try ripping off a bit more money from players. Total war has one of the most active and busiest modding community in the modding scene so you WILL be getting new units, entirely new factions and even areas FOR FREE.

You've really nothing to lose by not buying the ''Special forces'' edition pack. Its like buying a ''Special Edition'' Fallout 3 (or any other Bethesda game) for that unique weapons/armor when you know for sure the modding community will be churning out mods and items like a factory production line.
I've enjoyed what little time I've had playing the game, but the load times are just insanely terrible right now. I've gone back 3 times today thinking ''well, I'll just give it another shot. They can't be THAT bad.'' And every time they ARE that bad. 3-5 minutes just to load up a battle. I'd say it's just my 3 year old rig, but other people with much newer systems are having the same problem. I thought the demo would have been much more optimized than this.

But like I said... when you actually get into the game it's pretty fun to play. I think I'm going to wait for the release before I give it much more time, though. I'll just stick to Medieval II in the meantime.
It's ALOT slower paced since all your infantry are primarily ranged units now, I really dig it, though. One complaint is that there aren't enough sounds in the game. When people get shot they just silently collapse.
Blown away by it visually, the game is streamline to make it more easy to play for newbies..but still has alot of deversity in its gameplay overall, I'm stunned right now really, the game looks amazing visually outside of the horribles load times, I have no complaints with the demo.
Visually the game was amazing, had it maxed out and running smooth as silk. Sounds were a bit iffy but as someone else said may have been cut back to keep the file size small. THe gameplay and UI is what you would expect from a Total War game, same as it's been since shogun with a few little tweaks and changes in a couple of areas. The navy battle was great fun and I'm surprised by that, wasn't sure how well CA would be able to do it but they did a good job there. AI had some flaws and wasn't all that difficult to go against, but CA never did shine in the AI department and in about 6 months I'm sure mods will have that shaped up nicely. Great game and looks like it's going a lot of fun, can't wait for the full release.

The difficulty is on its lowest setting, fyi. There's a way to change it. You have to go to C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\EmpireDemo2\scripts\preferences and change battle_difficulty 0 to battle_difficulty -2 (very hard).

I have yet to get a Heroic victory, most of the time it's just a close victory. I think the AI has drastically improved from Rome, but it's still quite dumb. It definitely has some flaws though (it doesn't move the arty because it can still hit you from the ford, it also leaves a unit of line infantry behind to defend the arty).
It never left any infantry to defend against me. It left a unit of 20 dragoons which went down to my hussars pretty quickly.I noticed the suicidal generals are back as both times I played the demo, the AI general unit charged by itself.
I thought the demo was alright. I certainly hope the game is not as buggy or have those load times. Also I have the graphics all the way up and the faces of guys are all the same except for the commander of that unit and i really hope they fix it, the AI is alot better, i chose to attack them through gap they were defending and they left no one behind to guard the arty which i took out with hussars, however my line infantry got shot up by muskets and cannon. Also i suprisingly enjoyed the naval battle which i thought was going to be the worst part.
