What are the best sound effects for any game you have heard?
Mine:
K98 rifle from Day of Defeat: Classic
explosions from Total Annihilation
Core Can laser from Total Annihilation
Tribes:Vengeance spinfuserBest video game sound effects
Battlefield: Bad Company's sound effects are absolutely amazing. The gun-fire (both close and distant), vehicle engines, bullet impacts, explosions, screams, the whistling of artillery shells. It's all brilliant.
The sound produced by the MG42 in Call of Duty sounds rightfully terrifying. Hitler's Buzz-saw indeed.
Company of Heroes also has some awesome sound effects, and some terrific voice acting.Best video game sound effects
I agree that Bad Company has the best sound effects to date. Best PC sound effects would have to go to Half Life 2.
System Shock 2 for the sound manipulation used on the voices of Shodan and The Many. Perfect.
I would say Thief 1 had some of the best zombie sound effects ever. And some of the sounds of the other undead were excellent as well. I think the attention to sound detail in general in Thief 1, 2, and maybe 3 was commendable.
BF Bad Company has the best sound fx by far. It really adds a lot to the game. I'm more blown away by Bad Company's sound than Crysis graphics.I remember watching Iraq war footage and thinking why dont games sound like this?BC comes very close. I wish more devs would give the same attention to audio as they do graphics.
rogue spear anyone?
If this was a thread on graphics it would be 20 pages by now. No wonder sound takes a backseat to graphics.I guess you could say we're about 3/4 of the way to photorealistic graphics. Sound isnt even halfway there. Most games dont even have indoor reverb and BF Bad company is the only one I know of that has outdoor reverb.Considering BF BC is miles ahead of any other shooter in sound, a pc with an X-fi card should be able handle sound effects close to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9MNWlfqvDo
Weapons sound effects: Medal of Honour: Allied Assault. COD Music: Bioshock.Voice acting: Half-Life 2, Thief, Max Payne.
Oh wow it's hard too believe people are suggesting old audio tech from the 90s. Call of Duty 4 is miles ahead of any game out there and with a great sound system setup/sound card the audio rivals many Hollywood films in those areas. The closest too Cod4 will have to be Source Engine games followed by Battlefield 2/2142/BC and Halo 2/3.
Mass Effect for voice acting as well.

COD4 doesnt even have indoor reverb. Comparing COD 4 sound to BF BC is like comparing Far Cry's graphics to Crysis.Link a COD 4 vid that sounds as good as this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xijncXnNJQ8
Mass effect had amazing sound. Crysis did explosions and weapons right...but that's my opinion.

Bioshock and Call of Duty 4. Also The Sims 2 for the sims speaking simlish and simlish songs and the thunders in Seasons.
I agree with Battlefield: Bad Company's sound. It really makes the game intense. Half Life 2 or Mass Effect still has the best voice overs tho imo.
Who cares?! When you have all those new pretty graphics to look at. \End graphics HOism\
